After a time God sent me a second chance
We added two more to the family dance
But time changes people and closes a store
Yet even in the darkest valley God opens a door

As we got older and thought there was no more,
A basket of children were left at our door.
Now we look to bring up six more plus the two
Who could have ever imagined all that God knew

Dance, For a Living
Do you remember how you used to put your feet on mine
We’d dance across the rug, you’d hang on with a hug
I would lead you through that ballroom laid out in my mind
The princess and her king, laughing at everything
Though the song would change we always found our rhythm
And with every scene we’d grab some different props
All your life I taught there’s taking and there’s giving
It’s the way you learned to dance, for a living
Then I would tilt you till you hair would almost touch the floor
You’d beg to spin and dip, and then try not to slip
We were making up our own style of choreography
Footloose and flashdance free, it was just you and me
Though the song would change we always found our rhythm
And with every scene we’d grab some different props
All your life I taught there’s taking and there’s giving
It’s the way you learned to dance, for a living
No I never learned to do the waltz or the ballet
And my most impressive move is only just to sway
But I did the best with every given chance
And you followed as I led you through this dance
There will come a day you feel like you’ve got two left feet
You’ll even trip and fall, get up and laugh it off
When it seems your partner doesn’t know the whole routine
Just hold him close to you, just like I taught you to
Though the song would change you’ll always find your rhythm
And with every scene just grab some different props
All your life I taught there’s taking and there’s giving
It’s the way you learned to dance, for a living
Though the song will change we always found our rhythm
And in every scene we grabbed some different props
But it’s not the song you hear that really matters
It’s whose arms you’re lost in, when the music stops
